General Thanks
02/14/2012 10:13 PM Dan Stampf
I'd like you to know I greatly appreciate the time you take to write columns for magazines like SportsCar, and I have enjoyed reading your comments for a long time. "Living the Racing Dream" was fantastic and reminded me so much of myself. I wont bore you with long details, but I too started in autox, do all my own wrenching (yep, there were some Datsuns), and I'm doing my first season of Club Racing in a Spec Miata with the San Francisco region of the SCCA. With a 9 month old, I'm wont hit every event, but will enjoy each one to the very fullest. Thanks again, your articles make guys like me (i.e. no big dollar luxuries) realize we can race, and be competitive, so long as we keep the passion. All the best this year and in the future. Hope to see you race this year!

Kind regards,
Dan Stampf

Heeey Randy, Bought my first SCCA club car from You and Linda, 81 Rabbit back in 87, still have it, You were my instructor at Sebring 2 weeks later. Your imput led to, 4 12 Hrs Sebring, 4 Rolex 24s, 7 24 hrs Moroso, and 100s of SCCA Events all over the country. I would have no racin memories if it wasn;t for you, thankyou so very much for the start, and congradulations to you on a great career. Billy Bies

Remember Conflict?

I remember when you bought that blue Datsun 510 back in '75. Whoda thunk you would become famous as a race car driver rather than the lead singer of a rock-n-roll band? How many of your fans even know that tidbit? Keep going strong man! - Danny

Great Motortrend!

Hi Randy,

I saw you race several years ago in the SCCA World Challenge Touring Car series (04). You ROCKED back then and it's great to see you rocking those cars today! I especially enjoy your driving for Motortrend. You give the best feedback about the cars us "joes" drive while taking it to the limit. Keep up the great work!!!

VIR Testing
02/10/2011 03:48 PM Cindy
I saw you in the pits at VIR during the tire testing and you most graciously took the time to come over and talk with me, at length, about many things. I was pleased, to say the least, that you would take time to talk to an old lady fan. Congrats on the seat with Mitchum. Hope to see you at VIR again.

Hey Randy!

I met you at the Rolex 24 at Daytona last weekend. We talked about how I read your article in Sportscar magazine.

I was disappointed with your car's run of bad luck this year at Daytona. Oh well, you'll get 'em next year!

Good luck in your season this year! I'll be rooting for you!

Caitlin Bunt

Hey Randy
01/30/2011 07:20 PM Craig Neri
Hey Randy, it's Craig Neri. You probably dont remember me but we were stuck in the hospital in Sebring many years ago, you suffering from a bad case of the flu and me, a badly sprained ankle (A long Sebring story).

How are ya? I Saw the bad luck at the 24 hrs; what a bummer. Who does that lol? Outside of the obvious I hope you enjoyed your time in Sunny FL. I wish I could have made the race but just couldnt swing the time off.

My dad actually found your web-site. He pointed it out to me and I noticed you were from Dayton, OH. I'm actually stationed up here in Dayton right now at Wright-Patterson AFB. You've probably heard of it :)

Are you not going to Sebring this year? I'm hoping to but I may be heading to Afghanistan next month, just waiting for the official word. If I dont have to go, I'll be there. If you can make it maybe we'll see you then. Take care Randy!

blast from the past

HI Randy, You would have to go back a few years to remember me but we met autocrossing in Melbourne and I had a machine shop at the Merritt Island airport. I followed your success for a while after you moved and then lost track. Back 2 years ago I decided to build a car for my daughter ( 16 at the time. It is her 1st car and my lovely wife said it had to be a safe car, a Volvo.) So in looking for a body kit and brakes for the car I ran across K-PAX and you, thanks to your effort on the track I could hold my head up high when telling people “Yes I am building a Volvo S60”.The car came out great and my daughter loves it.
Just heard you will be driving a Porsche at the 24 hour race and I will be watching from the infield. Best of luck and hope to see you soon.

Hi Randy,

You've come a long way since your first race at Sebring, you may not remember but Mac(my ex) and I were there. We use to have fun auto crossing the back roads of Palm Bay. Just wanted to say hi and congratulations on your success.

Subject: Lemons thanks!

Randy, we really got a kick out of you being at the Chicago Lemons race. For the average 'car guy' and race fan, its an absolute blast to be able to spend a few days at the track and we all really appreciated how generous you were with your time and great attitude. Take care, good luck and we hope to see you again at a future race! (just not at Lemons/Gingerman next year, because we want to win that one)

Hello Randy, Thanks for being part of our team this past weekend. Enjoyed having you drive the Old Volvo #240 sedan. Also your help with the racing line allowed us to finish 10th. Thanks Again, Steve Owens Keystone Kops #240

Randy it was great meeting you at the Lemons race this past weekend at Autobahn! Thanks for taking the checker in our Lancia/MR2 and for signing it! I don't know if you want to claim it in your biography, but we did take top honors by wining the Index of Effluency with it!!!

Again it was honor to have shared the track with you!

Mid Ohio KPAX

Hello Randy, I just wanted to let you know that i'm a big fan of yours. I enjoy reading your monthly column in SportsCar magazine. I started following sports car racing about 5 years ago, and decided I wanted to 'do more' after participating in a PDX at Mid-Ohio last year in my Subaru WRX. When I hit the magical '40 years old' plateau last year, I decided to start saving towards purchasing a real race car: a Spec Racer Ford! Unfortunately my dream of racing one was curtailed slightly when my employer went bankrupt, thus leaving me out of work for almost 6 months. I really enjoy watching you drive when the World Challenge races are on television, and my 8-year old son now cheers for you, too, right along side myself. This past weekend you were actually about 30 feet from me, where I was sitting in the grass at Turn 7. I saw you with a few people as you were leaving the area where we were sitting. I told my son "there's Randy Pobst!!!!" I wanted to introduce ourselves as big fans of yours, but since you were leaving the area I figured you were probably in a rush to get back to the trailer and didn't want to bother/delay you. I told my son that hard work does pay off, and that Mr. Pobst always has a smile on his face, which proves that working hard does bring happiness (and having incredible talent like yours helps, too). Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that you have 2 big fans in Hamilton, Ohio (just north of Cincinnati)! Dave Osbun

Sorry some of your rides have been taken from you recently. I'm still enjoying following your career and watching you race nevertheless. Hope you are able to enjoy The Glen and Seneca Lodge here in the near future. Unfortunately, I do not think I will make it up this time. Good luck.
