Daytona Beach, FL (January 21, 2014) -- 2014 will be a season of change for Randy, as he says goodbye to old friends and hello to new ones.  Volvo recently announced that they would not be returning to the Pirelli World Challenge and K-PAX Racing, which left Randy and K-PAX seeking new opportunities.  Randy has decided to return to another old friend by joining Freedom Autosport for the entire 2014 IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Series.  Freedom Autosport will field three Mazda MX-5s in the ST class with Randy in the No. 26 Mazda MX-5 with returning driver Andrew Carbonell.  Rocketman fans will remember that Randy has driven for Mazda in World Challenge and was also the first person to win an SCCA National Championship in an MX-5.
"I want to say a respectful goodbye and thank you to Volvo and K-PAX Racing.  Volvo has decided to end support of K-PAX, at least for now.  K-PAX will be running a different brand, not yet announced, and is looking for funded drivers.  I wish them the best.  I had seven years with K-PAX Racing and five years with Volvo.  It has been a wonderful racing experience with many wins and three championships.  I am still looking for an opportunity in World Challenge but am excited to be moving on to other experiences."
"The wonderful news is that I am returning to the Mazda family with a factory ride with Freedom Autosport.  I personally am looking forward to racing the well-balanced Mazda MX-5 that drives and handles like a proper racecar.  I also will have a strong co-driver in Andrew Carbonell, who is a 3 time winner in the series.  I actually raced against his father in the old Firestone Firehawk days.  I'm very happy to have a new home and the icing on the cake is that I get to race in the Daytona 24 hour race in the #19 Muehlner Motorsports Porsche in the GTD class.  I'll be the pro in the car working to help my co-drivers have a great experience and a good finish.  It should be fun."
"I am also excited to announce a new personal sponsor, Blackbox Guard, who markets Vehicle Black Box cameras that can be installed in cars for safety and enjoyment.  I believe that everyone should have one of these cameras for protection.  For more information, visit http://blackboxguard.com or look for them on Facebook.  I am also happy to welcome back SafeRacer, Motor Trend Magazine and TPC Racing and appreciate their support.  I will be coaching for TPC Racing in the Porsche GT3 Cup at most TUDOR race weekends."
The IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge BMW Performance 200 will air on FOX Sports 2, Friday, Jan. 24 at 6 PM.  Randy will be racing the #19 Muehlner Motorsports Porsche 911 GT America with co-drivers Robert Gewirtz, Mark Kvamme and Jim Michaelian.  The TUDOR Championship 52nd Rolex 24 At Daytona can be seen live on FOX, Saturday, Jan. 25 from 2 PM - 4 PM, on FOX Sports 2, from 4 PM - 9 PM, on IMSA.com with live streaming from 9 PM – 7 AM and will finish on FOX Sports 1 from 7 AM - 3 PM.
